I Graduated in 2020 and Took My Future Into My Own Hands

When I tell people I’m a 2020 college graduate, most tend to respond with pity. But all the sympathy in the world doesn’t amount to a true understanding of how my world, and that of my classmates, shifted when we went into a Zoom universe at a moment’s notice. I felt as if I were forced out of college prematurely, thrown forward into my adult life without warning. Life became very serious, very quickly. 

Still, amid the wreckage of 2020, I embarked on the career of my dreams. It took lots of effort. I didn’t do it alone. And though my work has anchored me, my peers and I are still dealing with the fallout of a disastrous year.
